I bet you can’t eat just one

These are so good. So good in fact, that I fill a cup and I’m gittery for the rest of the day. They’re Cocoa Roasted Almonds and they’re the greatest thing ever! (Better than the regular roasted ones, me thinks.)

Then there’s this:

The storm that rolled through this morning. Too bad, I couldn’t've gotten some of the other, more photographical storms that’ve already come through the last couple of days. Oh well.

Lastly, there’s this:

I’m not sure if it looks as good on everyone else’s computer as it does on mine, but I love the colors that are captured.  The rest of the pictures can be found here.

‘Tis the end of my vacation.

And I’m saddened. But all good things must continue, or is it come to an end? But see, my ‘goodness’ isn’t ending. For I do love my job, however I love staying home just the same (if not, more.) ;-)

The boys have enjoyed a wonderful past couple days. Yesterday, Gary got tickets from work (for free) to go see a Toledo Mudhens game. We went. (Even though I protested, despite the heat.) But had we not went, we wouldn’t've gotten a 50$ meal for 20$. We went to Don Pablo’s for dinner and the kitchen lost our order. We only had to pay for our drinks and appetizers. We tipped well, because dispite them losing it, it was really great service.

The game itself was okay. They lost, but the seats weren’t bad. Plus, I sat beside someone semifamous and there was a really neat fireworks show. No, I have no idea who the semifamous person was, but he was talking of signing on AA leauge. That’s semifamous, in my book.

Well. I just finished The Golden Compass. This might be my favorite series yet to come. Very good. I’ll need to reread the story book, me thinks.

Last night we all got together, again, and had the kids out enjoying the warm weather.  Between us we had 3 hoses going on a pool and slip-n-slide.  The cars kept showing up.  I think at one time, there were 10 kids there.  The previous neighbor-bitch and “lil neighbor-girl” showed up.  Between the big kids and the little ones, they eventually ripped a huge hole in the pool.  I won’t even tell you who started that one. Because the boys were doing just fine the other day in it.  So you know it wasn’t the boys.

Anyway, I agreed to take another neighbor-friend out to D-town to get another nicer pool that I’d spotted out at Menard’s yesterday.  It was like 25$ but it had a kick ass slide and stuff.  As long as everyone doesn’t jump and slide in it like the did the previous one.  It should be okay.  I should probably go get showered and see if she wants to go.  Gary went in early today, bc he won tickets to a Mudhens game at work.  I think we’re “going out” tonight.  (The talks of a hotel stay have been mentioned.)  So he’ll be getting off early so we can go to that.

The one where I buy new clothes.

So I go out to Walmart yesterday and get the boys some summer clothes.

I let the boys pick out their own clothes.  With the request that Brandon get this certain shirt.
It reads, “Be Thankful I’m Not Your Kid!”  Yea.  It was fitting.  (No pun intended.).
The other shirt he picked out was;
This one, on the contrary isn’t exactly him.  Or is it, in a simple twisted joke sort of way?  Either way, it was what he wanted.  (Orange pants too!)
Liam picked out a Comic’s shirt with Spiderman and The Hulk on it.  Then for his 2nd shirt he got;
All totaled, they each got 5 pairs of pants, and 3 shirts.  Woo hoo.  At least they have something.

And I’m enjoying it.  The only thing that could’ve made this the perfect week was if the Jubilee where this week, but I think I’m 3 weeks shy.  S’okay.  Liam’s got a program at school on Tuesday.  I’m looking forward to that.  Then, tomorrow, I think I’m going to clean, goto the Library, the thrift store to donate some clothes and then do some more reading.  I don’t really have plans for this week.  Just to enjoy the boys and myself.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?  Yea, me too.

Tattoos, Movies, Sunburns and BBQs.

Sounds like a nice title eh?

Friday night I spent getting a commemorative tattoo.

If this works, you can see from the image.. it’s a frog. Tadpole is a nickname given to me from my grandfather. I love and miss that man. Here’s to you Pap!
Saturday night we met the In-Law’s they took us out to eat, then we took them to see the new Indiana movie. Gary loved it. Me, I’m having mixed thoughts. I thought it was good.. but I’m not sure it’ll ever be the classic “Indiana” movies that I watched growing up.
Yesterday we then went to the In-Law’s for a bbq. We spent the better part of the day outside. I’ve been tanning, so my ‘burn’ shouldn’t last much. Brandon however, spent enough time outside he actually burnt his shoulders. I always believed the boys had enough of their father’s blood that they never really burned. If they did, it’d be gone by the next day. B however is still red today. It shouldn’t last much longer, but he got enough sun.
It’s been a good weekend. Only 4 days till my vacation starts. 7 days till Liam graduates. Woo hoo! Busy days!

‘Tis the season

To be grilling.

And now for something completely weird.

2 weeks ago, we got a car.  A Cobalt.  (And every time I type or stay it, I have to stop myself from writing/saying Colbart.)  We got a used one, only because the thing is practically new and it was in our price range.

A 2007 LTZ, Victory Red, w/ leather seating, sunroof, trim, spoiler, if it was an option, it had it.  W/ only 600 miles to boot!  The previous owner never drove it.  Why?  Dunno.  He had his heart set on a Cadillac. Needless to say, we couldn’t pass it up.  It was like getting a 2008.  They looked the same.

Then yesterday, someone came in inquiring the owner of the ‘little red cobalt’.  I was a bit nervous, thinking someone hit it.  No.  Not quite.  The previous owner wanted to meet me!  How weird is that?  On a side note, he did let me know that he kept it in his garage and in doing so, he thinks the seal on the passenger window might need replaced.  While it’s under warranty, he suggested we do it.

Well.  Other than that. The boys enjoy soccer.  They’re getting pretty good.  Brandon needs a little help with the knowledge of which direction.  He tried kicking it in his own goal a few times.

No luck and yet something I realized..

We’ve not test drove anything.  I spotted a Cobalt I thought I’d like.  But we can’t find any new ones.  The one I saw was different then the one I saw on the lot.  And Gary didn’t like that one.

So we’re just taking our time.  For now.

I just realized (with Gary’s pointing out) I have to work next Sunday.  Gary’s family has this thing all planned out, as they do every year.  He asked if I wanted him to go.  I shrugged.  I don’t care.  I said, go out, I’ll just get me a nice meal somewhere and enjoy the rest of the day myself :-)  He hasn’t said one way or the other.  Other than taking me out.  But kind of makes it interesting now, only having one car.  And I wouldn’t dream of having the boys WAIT for me while I finish up 4 hours of work.  He’ll think of something.  He can drop me off, pick me up sort of thing or something will come about.

Focus 2.0

Monkie @ 2008-04-30 23:51:33   |  Filed under: Post by Email   |   No Comment:(

So tonight we went back to the Ford dealership to see about test driving a Focus and both were gone!  I’m taking that as a sign…  So we’ll see about what we can do.  Hopefully, maybe we can get something test drove this weekend.

At least we’ll be saving a lil’ bit of money.  We just signed up for RR internet and phone service.  The combo package will be saving us a whopping 20$ a month.  Well, more actually.  I can make long distance calls and it won’t ever raise my bill.  I don’t use the phone enough now to even make LD calls.  I just use the cell.  But this sounds nice enough I might just start using it.  It’ll be interesting to see how that works.

This is gotta be some kind of record.

Well, Monday night I got the title to the van.  WOO HOO paid off.  No more van payments!!! It’s been nice not having to worry about that anymore and possibly make a savings.  It’s been great, I mean on Monday I even was able to take the car in and get the brakes fixed and not really worry about where the money was going to come from.

Then Tuesday came.

I got a call this morning as I was getting ready for work.  It’s Gary.  I get it and it’s “Hey, come get me, NOW!”  Huh?

The oil pump died, possibly damaging other engine parts.  Yea, I had the title for a whole day?  If that?  Great… :(

So car shopping we go.
